Breakthrough for EDB Skala in Sweden

(Oslo, 27 December 2005) EDB Business Partner and the Swedish company Samhall have signed a letter of intent for EDB to take on responsibility for all Samhall’s IT operations and support. The agreement represents business volume of around NOK 60 million over a three-year period.

This is EDB’s first contract in Sweden for distributed operations. The concept, known as EDB Skala, was launched in Norway in the third quarter.

This agreement with Samhall gives EDB responsibility for server operations, workstation operations, communications services and the administration of these operations, as well as providing service desk support services for Samhall. The letter of intent provides for 25 Samhall employees to transfer to EDB. Samhall has so far managed its IT operations and support internally.

One of the largest outsourcing contracts in Sweden in 2005
“We are delighted that Samhall has chosen EDB. We look forward to a close and long-lasting collaboration. This is one of the largest outsourcing contracts in Sweden in 2005”, comments Urban Doverholt, Managing Director of EDB Sweden. Samhall is a new customer for EDB, and the contract was won in competition with other players in the Swedish market.

Samhall is a state-owned Swedish company whose business vision is to produce goods and services with a view to creating meaningful and purposeful work for people with disabilities. Samhall has 22,600 employees working at some 250 locations across Sweden.

EDB Skala
EDB launched EDB Skala in the third quarter of 2005. This concept represents a total solution for distributed operation of a customer’s complete portfolio of IT equipment and solutions: PCs, PDAs and smart phones, local networks and servers, printers and other peripherals as well as client-based applications. The solution can be based on the technical platform included in EDB Skala, or can be adapted to a customer-specific design. The concept is flexible, offering modular services with pricing based on usage or agreed capacity.
