ACCESS NetFront Browser Widgets Community Site Supports WILLCOM Gadget

LINUXWORLD CONFERENCE & EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., August 2008 – ACCESS CO., LTD., a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile and beyond-PC markets, today began providing downloads on its beta NetFront™ Browser Widgets community site for WILLCOM Gadget, the Widget service of Japanese telecommunications service provider WILLCOM Inc. Users of handsets that support WILLCOM Gadget can download their favorite Widgets for free directly from the Japanese version of the NetFront Browser Widgets community site at www.access.co.jp/nfbwc. WILLCOM is the sole provider of PHS services in Japan.

Widgets are mini applications displayed in small GUI windows on the screen of a handset or consumer electronics device. They are appealing to users because they can be accessed without having to open the handset’s browser, automatically acquiring and displaying frequently viewed or personalized content from the Web. The NetFront Browser Widgets community site provides a variety of Widget applications—such as maps and calendars—but also collects feedback to improve product features and more effectively meet user needs.

The NetFront Browser Widgets community site beta was launched on July 1, 2008, to allow users to download and try free widgets for mobile devices. NetFront Browser Widgets are based on ACCESS’ acclaimed NetFront technology, one of the most widely-used mobile software solutions on the market today, with over 590 million deployments worldwide.

WILLCOM Gadget is available for the WILLCOM 9 (WS018KE) handset from KES. Widgets on the NetFront Browser Widgets community site that are compatible with this handset are identified with a special symbol
