Johnson Wins Debacle At Brickyard

INDIANAPOLIS -- “Pure and simple, Jimmie Johnson won the Yellow Flag 400 Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by winning the final race off pit road” according to the Sporting News on http://racinguide.com.

Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway looked to fans more like a practice session than an actual race as NASCAR threw competition cautions every 10 or so laps. The right rear tire wouldn’t last much longer than that as was shown by Matt Kenseth who tried to go 13 laps and blew out his entire right rear quarter panel when the Goodyear Eagle blew up.

NASCAR Vice President of competition Robin Pemberton could only say that they will have to do better next year. “I think generally when you have an open test, you’ve already got your tires picked and things like that have already been decided so I don’t think an open test here would have done enough for what we all, as competitors, would want to achieve,” Pemberton said. “It wouldn’t have helped, I don’t think. You may have had enough issues that you may have gone back and redesigned the tire, but then I don’t know if we could have got it done in time. So I mean hindsight is always 20-20. I think we’ll just learn from this experience here this weekend and try to do a little bit better job next year.”
