Amsterdam, July 2008 – Elsevier, a world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services is pleased to announce the formation of a publishing partnership with the International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR), representing 1000 members worldwide.

Under this agreement, Elsevier will assume publication of the External link Journal of Great Lakes Research, the official journal of the Association, starting in January 2009. The Journal of Great Lakes Research has been published as a quarterly journal by IAGLR since 1975, when the first issue appeared.

The journal publishes research papers, reviews, and technical notes advancing knowledge and promoting a better understanding of large lakes of the world and their watersheds. Special issues, focused on particular topics are also published on a regular basis.

The aim of this collaboration is to further the development and influence of the journal, by expanding its global reach and increasing its visibility, also through the availability of the journal on ScienceDirect.

Prof. Ronald A. Hites, President of IAGLR, commented, “We are very pleased with this opportunity; to expand the worldwide reach of our journal, to improve our publication processes, and to serve our members more effectively. We look forward to a long and productive partnership with Elsevier.”

”We are looking forward to this collaborative arrangement, which provides improved benefits to our authors, reviewers, and the larger scientific community. We are particularly excited about the opportunities to expand our scope to include other large lakes of the world and their watersheds” said Dr. Marlene Evans, journal Editor.

Elsevier publisher Dr. Christiane Barranguet noted, “We are very proud to be able to work with the Association on further increasing the visibility of this long-standing, prestigious journal. We will also streamline the submission process with an end to end electronic submission system, making the process easier for authors and reviewers alike.”
