ISLANDIA, N.Y., December 16, 2005 – CA (NYSE: CA) today announced “day one” support for IBM’s z/VM 5.2 across its security, storage and systems management product lines, continuing its unbroken record of immediate support for every release of the VM operating system. This day one support enables CA customers and partners to reap the full benefits of the new platform’s features without delay.

“CA’s management solutions are foundational to our z/VM environment and are mission critical to the customers we serve,” said Glen Baker, president of PSR Information Systems, a Premier IBM zSeries Business Partner that services high-end to mid-market data centers running z/OS, z/VSE, z/VM and Linux. “CA once again came through with same-day readiness for IBM’s latest z/VM release, enabling us to move forward with z/VM 5.2 and positioning us to fully capitalize on new virtualization features without delay or disruption.”

z/VM 5.2 enhances scalability for virtualization in System z9 and zSeries environments, including Linux guests. It extends System z9 and zSeries as platforms for integrating applications and data and for consolidating select UNIX, Windows, and Linux workloads on a single physical server.

“CA continues to keep current with IBM’s releases, which is important to us because z/VM is strategic for our organization,” said Rich Resnick, manager of systems and operations at University Community Hospital, a regional health care facility in Tampa, Florida. “We rely on CA’s excellent z/VM security and storage products to efficiently and effectively manage our growing Linux environment.”

CA has worked closely with IBM during its early test program for v/VM 5.2. CA solutions for z/VM 5.2 empower customers to optimize utilization of data center resources, reduce total cost of ownership, align utilization to changing business requirements, secure critical systems, and ensure the continuous availability of essential IT services.

“The close working relationship between CA and the IBM mainframe teams continues to benefit our mutual customers,” said Mark Combs, senior vice president at CA. “Day one support for IBM operating systems — combined with the technical excellence of our solutions and our advanced technical services — is another reason CA is the management partner-of-choice for IT organizations all over the world.”
