Hearst Magazines International and ACP Magazines Launch Weekly

NEW YORK and SYDNEY, July 2008 –The much-anticipated Australian edition of women’s style weekly Grazia will go on sale on newsstands in Australia on Monday, July 21, with a cover price of AU$5.00 and supported by a AU$7 million marketing campaign. ACP Magazines is publishing the weekly international magazine in a joint venture partnership with Hearst Magazines International, under license from Italian publishing company Mondadori. This is an extension of an existing joint venture partnership between ACP and Hearst to publish Cosmopolitan, Harper’s BAZAAR and Madison in Australia.

“We are thrilled to partner with ACP to launch Grazia in Australia,” said George J. Green, president and CEO of Hearst Magazines International. “The magazine has been a huge success in Italy and other countries and we are confident that the Australian audience will respond enthusiastically to Grazia’s fresh weekly approach to fashion and beauty.”

ACP Magazines’ Group Publisher Women’s Lifestyle Pat Ingram, said: “There is a buzz and anticipation about Grazia that does bode well for its success. It’s new, it’s different and it has highly creative and experienced editorial and advertising teams whose passion will be reflected in the pages.

“The response from advertisers has been remarkable and we are confident the same will be true from readers. This is an absorbing, exciting and eminently readable magazine that features an unrivalled mix of fashion, entertainment, news, trends and beauty,” added Ingram.

Editor-in-chief Alison Veness-McGourty will lead the high profile editorial team, which includes: Anita Quigley (features and entertainment editor), Maxine Frith (news editor), Lucinda Pitt (beauty and health director), Matthew Evans (food columnist), Edwina McCann (fashion features director) and Mark Vassallo (fashion director).

“Grazia fuses style with substance, reality and reflection with the speed of a weekly, but the depth of a monthly. The magazine will absolutely make and break the news, but in a way that’s honest, witty, emotive and fun,” says Veness-McGourty.

Nicki Ellis spearheads Grazia’s advertising team, as National Sales Director. Launch advertisers range across fashion, food, cosmetics, cars, jewelry and technology categories, including: Louis Vuitton, Prada, Target, Peugeot, Sony, Elizabeth Arden, L’Oreal and Sunsilk.

Australia is the tenth market to launch Grazia and the first in the southern hemisphere. The title was first published in Italy in 1938 by Mondadori, Italy’s biggest publisher of consumer magazines and one of the leading players in the sector in Europe.

Scott Lorson, Chief Executive Officer, ACP Magazines, said: “The Australian edition of Grazia is a collaboration between three of the world’s leading publishers—ACP Magazines, Hearst and Mondadori—and Grazia reflects the caliber of this publishing partnership at every level.”
