FARNBOROUGH AIRSHOW.- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it has been awarded a contract from The Boeing Company to supply Catalytic Ozone Converters on the Next-Generation 737 747, 767 and 747-8 airplane programs starting in 2009 through 2012. The ozone converter is a customer option for the 737, 747 and 767 and will be standard equipment on the 747-8. An ozone converter is used to reduce ozone levels in the cabin that can cause passenger discomfort.

“Honeywell offers a solution that not only meets Boeing’s needs to reduce ozone levels in the cabin environment; but also meets the airlines goals of reduced maintenance costs,” said Steve Pitts, Honeywell Vice President for Boeing business. “The high reliability of the Honeywell ozone converter results in fewer aircraft delays attributed to an inactive ozone converter.”

Honeywell’s ozone converter is connected directly to the incoming air supply to the aircraft’s air conditioning system to improve cabin air quality by decomposing ozone gas. By combining unique technologies, Honeywell is a leading supplier of ozone converters that have achieved full compliance with the most stringent FAA requirements for ozone decomposition. Honeywell’s ozone converter lowers airline maintenance costs through longer maintenance intervals and reduces airline operating costs through high reliability and reduced turn-backs and aircraft delays caused by an inactive ozone converter.
