Fourth year on the list for leading payroll and HR services company

Paychex, Inc. announced today that IDG’s Computerworld, the “Voice of IT Management,” has selected it as one of the top 100 workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication’s 15th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 30 issue of Computerworld and online at Computerworld.com. Paychex, a leading provider of payroll and human resource services, ranked number 54 on the 2008 list, the fourth year Paychex participated in the survey and appeared on the list.

Since 1994, Computerworld’s annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. In addition, Computerworld surveyed IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.

“We’re so pleased to again be honored with this award, which reflects our commitment to making Paychex one of the best places to work in America,” said Jonathan J. Judge, Paychex president and chief executive officer. “We work hard to create an environment where people can grow and excel, are rewarded for their contributions, and receive the benefits and support to help them take care of their lives outside of work. Our IT people are proud to work at Paychex, and it shows in the excellent work they do each and every day.”

Computerworld cited Paychex’s comprehensive wellness program, which aims to cover every aspect of employee health, in its employer profile of the company. In addition to ranking number 54 on the overall list, Paychex ranked among the top 25 in a few key areas:

• #3 for the number of training days offered per employee (17 days)
• #10 for the percentage of IT employees promoted (18%)
• #22 for the percentage of women (38%)

“Again this year, we’re thrilled to be recognized for something our IT employees have long known – that Paychex is a great place to work,” said Daniel A. Canzano, Paychex vice president of information technology. “Our IT professionals enjoy a stimulating environment where their contributions make a real difference each and every day, and where they enjoy a fabulous benefits package and the camaraderie of a great group of hardworking, creative, and friendly people.”

“Being among the Best Places to Work in IT means crafting a blend of employee advantages that includes the potential for flexible hours, competitive pay, excellent benefits, a supportive leadership environment, opportunities for ongoing training and advancement, and ultimately, the feeling that you’d like to stay with the company a long, long time,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld.
