Managed Hosting and data centre services provider iomart has won the contract to host the IT backbone for a new online marketplace aiming to rival eBay.

Aroxo’s totally unique system promises to help people to get the best deal online, with minimal searching all while being easy-to-use. Aroxo does all the hard work for buyers whilst helping sellers sell their stock cheaper and faster.

Aroxo, founded by Matt Rogers and Andrew Culpan, has entered into a multi-year deal to use iomart’s intelligent hosting service, financial details of which have not been disclosed.

The importance of a secure, reliable server host cannot be understated for such an enterprise. At a quarter of a million lines of code, in development and testing for three years, built in India, designed in Croatia and managed and hosted in the UK, it’s a truly international effort which has a huge audience in its sights - so a robust system is a must.

Matt Rogers said: “We have ambitious plans for growth and believe that Aroxo has the potential to really shake up online commerce. We’re looking to be serious competition for eBay.

“The website is currently undergoing private beta testing which we hope to have completed shortly before launching in the UK. It will be relatively simple to scale the service as it grows and with iomart it means we don’t need to worry about hosting.

“Reliability of our service, and thus our servers, is paramount. We are confident that the service provided by iomart gives us that security and reliability as well as a high level of customer service.”

Andrew said: “When we were looking to appoint a server host we looked at a number of companies in the market. We awarded the contract to iomart as they best matched our requirements and with a very competitive price.

“However, the real clincher for us was that iomart was the only company that really made an effort to try to understand what we wanted to do with our platform.”

Sarah Haran, Managing Director of iomart, said: “Aroxo has a great idea and big plans for growth, and we’re delighted to be part of such an exciting new business.

“Security and continuity of service is absolutely paramount, especially for a web-based transactional business like this, and we’re confident our hosting service is the most reliable on the market.”

iomart owns and operates four purpose-built data centres throughout the UK, offering unrivalled levels of security and a 100 per cent business uptime guarantee.
