Canadian Telecom Services Corporation Secures and Assures Network with Juniper Routing Platforms, Session Border Controllers and Intrusion Detection Solutions.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., December 14th, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that mpower broadband, inc. has deployed Juniper Networks routing and security solutions to ensure the reliability and security of its new wholesale voice over IP (VoIP) service offering. mpower offers a comprehensive set of wholesale hosted VoIP services and applications for business and consumer customers, and has selected Juniper Networks M-series multiservice routing platforms, VF-series session border controllers and Integrated Security Gateways with Intrusion Detection and Protection (IDP) as the foundation for its new service.

“Our wholesale offering allows our service provider customers to get to market quickly with a high quality, feature-rich, secure and reliable VoIP service,” said Angelo Libertucci, executive vice president of mpower broadband. “The Juniper Networks solution is a key part of our service, delivering reliability in the core, ensuring customer deployments are simple and seamless, and providing best-in-class security against network intrusions and threats.”

mpower will offer its service provider, cable, and ISP customers a range of advanced VoIP services and applications, including VoIP portal customization, network connectivity and management, customer provisioning, automated billing, and more. This latest initiative complements mpower’s current successful suite of carrier and enterprise services that include network engineering, product provisioning, installations, materials management, logistics and investment recovery.

mpower broadband deployed the M-series multiservice routers in the core of its network to provide advanced IP/MPLS capabilities and to deliver voice-specific quality of service (QoS) policies. Multiple VF-series session border controllers work alongside the M-series router to provide advanced security features, service assurance, and hosted NAT traversal. Juniper Networks ISG 1000, which combines firewall, VPN and IDP, provides comprehensive protection against Denial of Service attacks and network intrusions, including worms, trojans and spyware.

Juniper Networks M-series multiservice routing platform is a versatile core and edge solution designed to support real-time applications such as voice by combining best-in-class IP/MPLS capabilities with unmatched reliability, performance, and service flexibility. The VF-series is a leading solution to deliver complex applications to support real-time services including hosted Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal, hosted VPN/VLAN and network protection for hosted IP telephony services. The ISG 1000 with IDP is the newest member of the ISG Series that was custom built to deliver the performance required by real-time applications while delivering a tightly integrated security solution including firewall/VPN with IDP technology for application layer protection. The ISG 1000 with IDP has the unique ability to separate the VoIP signaling from the media, allowing the IDP to check for signaling security threats.

“mpower’s hosted VoIP service provides an excellent opportunity for service providers looking to enter the VoIP market,” said Tim Lambie, vice president, Americas International, Juniper Networks. “Juniper Networks delivers infrastructure and security products that secure and assure value-added IP services like VoIP, and we are pleased mpower selected a comprehensive Juniper solution to ensure its new service operates securely and reliably.”
