Fujitsu introduces new workgroup scanners with enhanced intelligence

fi-6130 and fi-6230: Fujitsu launches new category of high-performance workgroup scanners


London, June 2008 — Fujitsu Europe Limited, a market leader in document imaging scanners, today announced its next generation of workgroup document scanners – models fi-6130 and fi-6230. The new colour, duplex scanners provide unmatched performance and market-leading document imaging capabilities with enhanced scanning speeds, advanced paper handling and improved feeding technology. Its innovations will revolutionise today’s desktop capture processes, producing more images in less time without manual intervention.

High-speed image capture
Both models are two of the fastest and most compact imaging scanners in their category. They capture up to 40 pages per minute or 80 images per minute in monochrome and greyscale (A4 / 200dpi), and up to 30 pages per minute or 60 images per minute at 300 dpi in full colour, providing uncompromised speed and performance with the advantage of higher image quality for increased OCR accuracy. The scanners´ true optical resolution is 600 dpi.

Optimal functionality and value
The Fujitsu fi-6130 (with ADF) / fi-6230 (with ADF and flatbed) scanners provide the latest design and operating concepts. This includes an advanced document feeding system for superior paper handling, long document scanning support, embossed ID card scanning capability (such as credit and insurance cards) and continuous paper feeding through their 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF). Both scanner models are fitted with a single high-speed USB 2.0 interface connectivity and come with a high-speed dual colour CCD image sensor to consistently capture the finest image details.

Advanced paper feed technology
The advanced paper feeding technology incorporated into the fi-6130 / fi-6230 scanners reduces overall document processing time, while providing improved paper handling and eliminating false multi feed alerts, which may occur if documents with attached photos and sticky notes are fed.

Paper feeding from mixed document batches with these scanners is highly reliable given that paper separation is actively supported by a newly introduced roller mechanism. Additionally, their ultrasonic double feed detection and newly designed scanner panel provide exceptional control for the operator. Both scanner models offer auto-colour and auto-size recognition, as well as automatic de-skew functions to automatically recognize the size of documents, correct skewed images and automatically differentiate colour images from black/white copies.

Unparalleled software integration
Both fi-6130 / fi-6230 scanners offer unparalleled software integration. They are bundled with a full license of Adobe® Acrobat 8 Standard, ScandAll PRO Ver1.5 for professional document capture, including OCR, barcode and patchcode-triggered job separation and a whole range of additional functions to improve the scanning processes. ScandAll Pro is a fully featured capture client, capable of driving the scanners through their incorporated TWAIN and ISIS drivers alternatively, even enabling the advanced image enhancement capabilities of VRS.

Virtual ReScan® (VRS) 4.1 Professional is an automated document image-enhancement software. This allows for better colour and enhancement features, thereby improving the scanned image. VRS Professional provides users with more robust image enhancement capabilities, which further reduce the need for manual intervention in the scanning process and offers a powerful suite of intelligent colour image processing features, including automatic orientation, blank page removal, colour detection, and background saturation.

The fi-6130 also provides an optional `post imprinter´ capable of printing up to 40 freely definable alpha numerical codes on the back of scanned documents for proof of capture. This special feature can also be combined with a digital imprint on the scanned image.

The fi-6130 (with ADF) and fi-6230 (with ADF and flatbed) scanners are available in EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) now at a recommended retail sales price of €999 and €1580 respectively.
