NEC Series3800 Servers Extend Current Comprehensive Server Offerings;
Support Popular Operating Systems

Santa Clara, Calif. - NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of IT, network and identity management solutions, today launched the NEC Series3800 server product line designed for small and medium enterprise businesses requiring powerful servers at exceptional value. This new product line also complements NEC’s comprehensive server portfolio - the Express5800 product family featuring NEC’s market-leading fault tolerant server, the Express5800/320Fd - which already meets the requirements of premier and large enterprise customers. NEC’s servers are based on the family of Intel® Xeon® processors.

The Series3800 servers are designed to meet the needs of data center customers wanting both computing performance and value. Series3800 Servers are high-performance servers that run enterprise-class applications with reliability. Optimized for application compatibility and high availability, NEC servers are offered in a wide choice of configurations. With very high quality ratings, NEC servers are made to outlast other servers and deliver outstanding total cost of ownership and value.

“NEC offers a comprehensive breadth and depth of quality IT products. We are committed to broadening our server offerings in order to provide our customers with the total solution they demand,” said Marc Hafner, vice president of departmental servers, IT Platform Group, NEC Corporation of America. “With the high value, reliability, scalability and extended options this new server line adds, we believe we are best positioned in the market to deliver dynamic IT solutions that cost-effectively meet customers’ changing business needs.”

NEC is launching four Series3800 models. The S110R-1 is an entry model 1u Xeon 3000 series chipset server designed to run applications requiring single-processor solutions, and thereby reduce the total cost of ownership as compared to two-socket servers. The S120T, S120R-1, and the S120R-2 are all two-socket servers supporting the latest Intel Xeon 5400 series processors to give maximum performance supporting the latest operating systems. The format of these servers varies to meet today’s industry standard customer requirements. The S120T is a pedestal or tower server that can be deployed without a rack. It also includes a conversion option into a 4u rack server providing greater expansion capabilities than standard 1u and 2u servers. The S120R-1 and S120R-2 are both rack-mounted servers either in a 1u or 2u format.
