Campbell Soup Foundation Kicks Off 34th Annual Summer Program

$400,000 in Grants Supports 25 Area Non-Profit Organizations

ampbell Soup Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB), today announced $400,000 in grants to 25 local non-profit organizations that offer summer programs for Camden children.

The announcement kicked off the Campbell Soup Foundation Summer Program, an effort that supports safe, fun, and educational activities for Camden youth.

Jerry Buckley, Chairman of the Campbell Soup Foundation, said: “Summer is a wonderful time to explore new things, make new friends and have fun. We are very pleased to be able to help Camden children do just that. Campbell is committed to improving Camden’s future through grants from our Foundation and through the volunteer work of our employees. We are fortunate to partner with so many committed individuals and organizations who are dedicated to transforming children’s lives one day at a time.”

Buckley was joined for the announcement by representatives from 25 Camden non-profits, including Bill Helmbrecht, co-founder of Camden’s Promise Charter School.

Since 1974, the Campbell Soup Foundation has sponsored the Campbell Soup Summer Program, which supports organizations that offer Camden’s youth a wealth of summertime activities, including career training, recreation, cultural enrichment and academic instruction. Over its 34-year history, the program has granted more than $10 million to local organizations that have provided constructive summers to over 500,000 Camden youth.

The grants announced by the Foundation today will benefit hundreds of elementary, middle and high school children in Camden. As part of the kick-off celebration, students from Camden’s Promise were joined by members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and participated in scouting demonstrations and craft activities. The school band also performed. Camden’s Promise Charter School was founded by two Eagle Scouts and is a collaborative effort between parents, students, teachers, community members, and several non-profit groups to provide Camden children with a successful education experience.

For more than 50 years, the Campbell Soup Foundation has been dedicated to supporting organizations that inspire positive change in the communities where Campbell operates, especially its birthplace and hometown, Camden, New Jersey.
