Holmes and Cawley Appointed to Senior Sales Positions

DENVER — June 16, 2008 — Sorrento Networks, a global provider of metro optical access solutions, today announced that Michael Holmes has joined the company as vice president of sales for the Americas and Pacific, and Michael Cawley has joined as vice president of sales for EMEA.

“Holmes and Cawley are seasoned sales professionals who are going to contribute immensely to Sorrento during this time of tremendous growth and change,” said Jim Nevelle, co-founder and CEO of Sorrento Networks. “Their experience and strategic sense will help us build on the momentum we’re seeing in these regions of the world.”

Holmes will oversee Sorrento’s sales organization across North America, South America and the Pacific Rim. He will be responsible for revenue generation for Sorrento’s entire product portfolio and for contributing to the company’s overall growth. Holmes is a metro and access optical industry veteran who comes to the company from Redfern Broadband Networks (RBN), which was recently acquired by Sorrento. He has also held senior sales roles with Imperva, Cloudshield, CIENA, Cisco, 3Com Corporation and SBC. As vice president of sales for Imperva, he established a new market category and grew annual revenue to $10 million from the ground up. At CIENA, Holmes successfully stabilized the company’s China partnership strategy and built a comprehensive in-country support program.

Based in the UK, Cawley will spearhead Sorrento’s expansion and revenue generation in EMEA. Along with his team, he will focus on the growth of Sorrento’s existing customer base of telephone companies, CLECs and WDM infrastructure providers, as well as on the acquisition of new customers in the region. Cawley brings to Sorrento more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and networking. He previously served as the principal of ixAssociates where he strengthened commercial relationships with customers and created sustainable revenue streams. Before that, he was the European business development director for Worldview Technology Partners. He has also held senior-level positions at ONI Systems, Osicom Technologies, Rockwell Network Systems and several other companies.
