Air Products Donates $100,000 For Children Impacted By Earthquake in China

WEBWIRE

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced that it has made a $100,000 donation to “Save the Children’s Earthquake Relief Effort for Children in China.” The May 12 earthquake in the Sichuan Province of western China destroyed schools, orphanages, hospitals and other institutions providing for large numbers of children. To help children recover from this crisis, Save the Children is beginning toset up child-friendly centers and temporary classrooms for primary schools in earthquake-affected communities. Save the Children has worked in China since 1995.

“Fortunately none of our colleagues living and working in China were harmed by this devastating earthquake but thousands of people, children in particular, have been left homeless. Our hearts are heavy as we see such suffering in the aftermath of this disaster,” said John McGlade, Air Products chairman, president and chief executive officer. “The global Air Products family is always ready to do whatever it can to help. Save the Children has over 75 years experience in disaster relief as well as development programs for children, and is in a very good position to address the specific needs of these children and their families.”

“Our employees throughout the company, and in Asia especially, want to contribute to the earthquake relief efforts,” said Wilbur Mok, Air Products Asia Region president. “We are collecting voluntary donations throughout the Asia region and the company will match these employee donations, adding both to our $100,000 corporate gift.”
