WEBWIRE

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) today announced awards of college scholarships to 18 high school seniors, all children of some of the 20,000 U.S.-based ITT Corporation employees. Winners were selected on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and personal accomplishments from a group of 195 applicants.

“We are proud to recognize these outstanding students, and to assist them in pursuing a higher education. We expect that they will follow in the footsteps of many past ITT scholarship winners who have gone on to promising careers in many fields,” said Steve Loranger, chairman, president and chief executive officer of ITT.

Under the program, the amount of each scholarship is based on the financial needs of the student recipient. Recipients can apply the funding toward an undergraduate degree at the college of their choice.

Since the program was established in 1980, 1,638 ITT scholarships have been awarded. The program is administered by an independent organization called Scholarship and Recognition Programs, a division of the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J. Winners were selected on their demonstrated academic achievement and promise, community service and leadership.
