Mirra Goes to the Dogs...and Cats with ``Thanks for Sharing’’ Photo Contest; Announces Call to Submit Digital Images of Favorite Furry Friends

SUNNYVALE, CA -- December 15, 2004 -- Mirra, Inc., developer of value-added digital content protection products for the consumer and home office markets, today kicked off the company’s new “Thanks for Sharing” program, a special promotion showcasing secure, two-way file and photo sharing using the Mirra Personal Server. Everyone who submits a digital photo is a winner, and special prizes are awarded to those photos judged on a number of criteria to be the best.

Mirra is also pleased to announce that Rick Smolan, renowned photojournalist and creator of the New York Times best-selling book series “A Day in the Life of America,” is the editor of the program’s first theme, “Mirra Goes to the Dogs...and Cats,” and will select the grand prize winner and runners-up. Simultaneously, Mirra announced its participation as a corporate sponsor of Smolan’s latest 24/7 publications with co-author David Elliot Cohen: DOGS 24/7 and CATS 24/7, which are scheduled for publication by Chronicle Books in June 2005. Program Details

Participation is simple: entrants visit Mirra.com and click on “Thanks for Sharing.” The participant then enters their email address and receives a personal return email from Rick Smolan inviting them to securely share their photos of dogs or cats on an unmodified Mirra Personal Server set up for the program. Entrants can submit up to five photos of their favorite dog or cat with no limit on file size. Participants who access the “share” can view other photos of entrants who have also been invited, letting them experience the secure sharing experience that comes free with every Mirra Personal Server. The “Thanks for Sharing” program begins today and runs through February 28, 2005.

Prizes and Judging

The grand prize, awarded for best photo, is the breakthrough digital SLR of 2004: the Nikon D70. A D70 camera outfit will be awarded for the best photo as judged by Rick Smolan. The first runner-up will receive a Mirra M-250 Personal Server. The second runner-up will receive the extremely popular Epson Stylus R800 photo printer. Finally, the third runner-up will receive a $250 shopping spree at Petco.com for their favorite furry friends. Prizes will be awarded on merit for the best photo, evaluated across a number of criteria including composition, focus, lighting and creativity. Twenty-five finalists will be chosen by Mirra executives from all photos submitted. The final four winners will be chosen by Rick Smolan.

The first 100 participants who share their photos will receive a copy of Rick Smolan’s book “America 24/7” customized with a photo of their own pet on the cover. All participants will be offered a $50 instant discount off the price of a Mirra Personal Server when purchased at Mirra.com.
