Extensive coverage allows global enterprises to deliver a single worldwide service that can reduce expensive ad hoc purchases

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — May 2008 — iPass, Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), a long-time leader in providing mobility services to the world’s largest companies, has become the first company to surpass 100,000 live business-class locations in its Wi-Fi network. A significant network addition in Denmark drove iPass beyond the milestone. The addition also pushed the network past 50,000 hotspots in Europe, another industry first.

The iPass global Wi-Fi network now includes 51% of the world’s commercial hotspots according to JiWire, which operates a leading Wi-Fi advertising network and hotspot directory service. According to public information available on service provider websites, the next largest network offers only 84,200 hotspots, or 42% of the global Wi-Fi footprint, and only one other provider covers more than a third of the world’s commercial hotspots. The iPass Wi-Fi network is complemented by 3G mobile broadband, hotel Ethernet, and dial-up connectivity, and is overlaid with software-based services that help global enterprises manage their mobile connections, devices and costs.

“For the multinational companies that iPass serves, mobility is growing more fragmented, complex, and expensive. Our goal is to give customers a single global solution that eliminates the need for users to buy their own expensive and unmanaged services.” said Joel Wachtler, VP of marketing and strategy at iPass. “By building a world-leading enterprise-grade Wi-Fi network that covers the places where work gets done, we help enterprises unify their workforce under a single service no matter where employees live or travel.”

Built over the past six years, the iPass Wi-Fi network combines the footprints of 110 network operators. Each network passes rigorous Enterprise-Ready certification testing, helping to ensure security, reliability, performance and compatibility with enterprise systems.

The iPass Mobile Broadband Index, announced earlier this year, demonstrated that Wi-Fi is an increasingly preferred way for businesspeople to connect, with global hotspot usage increasing 89% in H2 2007 over H2 2006. Popular business venues in the iPass network include:

The world’s leading airport coverage, with 1,078 hotspots in over 550 unique airports including the world’s 50 busiest
Nearly 23,000 hotels in 63 countries including leading brands such as Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott
More than 70,000 retail locations including 16,598 McDonald’s restaurants in 24 countries and 6,160 Starbucks coffeehouses in 19 countries.
668 convention centers across 27 countries
As announced on May 13th, flights using the Aircell Gogo network will be included later this year
