Former CIA Analyst Will Develop Strategy to Better Serve Intelligence Community --

Cambridge, Mass., May 13, 2008 — BBN Technologies, an advanced technology solutions firm, announced today that Heather Triplett Biehl has joined the company as Vice President, Intelligence Programs. Biehl will lead a new BBN Technologies Program Office designed to support the company’s growth strategy by taking a strategic view across all company business units and matching BBN’s significant technology expertise and resources to the current and future needs of the Intelligence Community.

Before joining BBN Technologies, Biehl was Director, Intelligence Programs at BAE Systems-Advanced Information Technologies. During her tenure at BAE, Biehl was responsible for analysis, strategy, research, and business development relevant to the Intelligence Community (IC) business and is credited with exceptional growth in annual funding. Biehl attributes her understanding of IC needs to her previous experience with the Central Intelligence Agency. She entered the CIA soon after completing her undergraduate education and remained with the Agency for the next decade, earning frequent commendations for her exceptional performance on Middle East and Counterterrorism issues.

Biehl is passionate about analysis and believes that technology is central to analysts doing their jobs. She expects to tap BBN’s expertise to deliver technology solutions to support the Intelligence Community’s analysis mission. Biehl said, “The Intelligence Community is already experiencing information overload, so that analysts can process only a fraction of the information collected. Furthermore, the amount of data requiring analysis doubles every six months, and BBN has some technology gems that can be of real service.”

Tad Elmer, president and CEO, BBN Technologies, said, "Heather brings a critical perspective to BBN: a deep understanding of the IC’s needs as well as a conviction that there is much more to be done to help the mission. She has shown that she can be an effective bridge between the analyst’s world and the technology experts who can make a difference. We are delighted to have her on board and confident that she will help guide BBN to become a more effective partner with the Intelligence Community. ”
