WEBWIRE

WASHINGTON, Tuesday, December 06, 2005 — The American Red Cross is pleased to announce the online availability of resources for those producing packages and stories on the one-year anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami.

We’ve created a special section (www.redcross.org/tsunami) on our Web site – RedCross.org – to keep our donors, the public and media informed about the ongoing tsunami relief efforts.

New b-roll of relief efforts in Indonesia and Sri Lanka is available online at no cost in the American Red Cross Press Room at www.thenewsmarket.com/AmericanRedCross/ .

On Nov. 17, a summit was held to update the national media on the ongoing Red Cross relief efforts for tsunami survivors. For those unable to attend, the PowerPoint presentation and audio is now available for download at http://www.redcross.org/news/in/tsunamis/press.html. Note: the audio will begin at the two-minute mark.

The summit included remarks by Gerald Anderson, American Red Cross Tsunami Recovery Program; Niurka Pineiro, International Organization for Migration (IOM); Judith Lewis, United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Iain Logan, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
