Chyron Announces Major Sale To Waterman Broadcasting Corporation
Melville, NY - May 12, 2008: Chyron (AMEX: CGS) today announced that Florida based Waterman Broadcasting Corporation has purchased six HyperX2 on air graphics systems, two CAMIO news graphics management solutions and Chyron’s Election Package. The systems are divided between WBBH-TV, the NBC affiliated station for Southwest Florida (owned by Waterman Broadcasting Corporation) and WZVN-TV, an ABC affiliate operated by WBBH (owned by Montclaire Communications) through a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA).
The HD/SD-switchable HyperX2s, with Lyric PRO advanced creation and playout, are currently on air in 16:9 SD but will transition to HD in time for the Olympics. At that point, WBBH and WZVN will be fully HD compliant. The Election Package is fully tailored to fit WBBH’s channel branding and will provide significant advantage against competitive channels.
“The workflow of CAMIO, the enhanced capability of the MOS interface, and the flexibility of the HyperX2 and Lyric PRO allows us to create on-air, state-of-the-art graphics quickly and easily. It also allows us to handle breaking news in a more efficient and relaxed manner,” commented Bob Hannon, Director of Production, Waterman Broadcasting. He added, “We chose Chyron based on the capability of the machines and the software, the ease of use for the operator and value for money. We also wanted to continue a relationship with a company that has supported us well over the past eight years and that still listens to and values its customers.”
Kevin Prince, Chyron’s Chief Operating Officer added, “We are delighted to announce this sale to Waterman Broadcasting and to continue the excellent relationship between our two companies. The workflow that the fully integrated HyperX2 and CAMIO graphics management system provides is revolutionary, delivering a wider toolset and greater skills to journalists and the art department whilst significantly reducing time to air.”
