( http://www.medievaldays.com ) One of the most effective ways to learn is through hands-on experience and a living history lesson from the Medieval Days of England is but a phone call away.

The education of our children can be one of the most important tasks we undertake in our lives. The rich cultural heritage of the British Isles can be brought directly to the classroom through the services of Medieval Days presentations.

Imagine the delight your students will have from a visit by one of the staff dressed in authentic medieval clothing. Each teaching session includes the assembly of a complete suit of battle armor with detailed explanations of its function.

Your students will be able to handle original and replica items from the world of the Middle Ages. Some of the items available to hold and try on are helmets, a full size and weight Norman shield, chainmail and gauntlets. A re-enactment quality sword, mace and longbow are also shown and demonstrated.

It is not all about warfare. A number of household items and implements also give a view into the world of the past. Plates, both wooden and pewter, along with drinking vessels and some of the common herbs and spices used during this great age of history are available and are explained.

Small competitions of period games are organized to give the students a chance to participate in the historical activities of their ancestors. Throughout the demonstrations, lively explanations are given about the items brought out from the medieval world and questions are welcomed.

A full discussion session is given at the end of the period for any questions about this historic period can be answered. If requested, Medieval Days can also do presentations on the Celtic, Roman, Saxon, Viking, Regency and Tudor periods of English history.

The medieval event can be scheduled for either half or full day classes. The presentations are designed to work with the National Curriculum. Many select reproduction items are available for classroom purchase at special discounted prices.

For your personal enjoyment, a visit to their sister site, ( http://www.spiral.org.uk )Spiral, will afford you the opportunity to fill your own home with a wide assortment of weapons, armor, jewelry and art from this fascinating period of the Island’s rich history.
