Printing Devices Optimized for Use with SAP Software to Reduce Total Cost of Ownership for SAP Customers

WALLDORF, Germany - April 2008 - Demonstrating the value of its customer-focused ecosystem, SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the new SAP Printer Vendor program in collaboration with leading printer manufacturers such as BROTHER INDUSTRIES, LTD., Dell Global B.V., Hewlett Packard Company, Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc., KYOCERA MITA Corporation, Océ Printing Systems GmbH, Seiko Epson Corporation and SHARP CORPORATION. The program offers these vendors access to specific SAP development environments that are necessary to optimize support for their devices operating within customers’ SAP environments.

Printing from an SAP system can be a critical business activity for SAP customers; a delayed or defective document can impact a company’s business operations. In addition, with thousands of printer models available and manufacturers continually adding new models to this $100 billion market, it is a challenge for customers to determine the right choice.

The SAP Printer Vendor program helps SAP customers reduce total cost of ownership for both their software and hardware investments by offering printer models that run out-of-the-box with SAP® software. By developing standard device types (or device drivers, which enable software and hardware to communicate), the program allows more printer vendors the opportunity to enhance support for their own devices within SAP landscapes. The SAP Printer Vendor program lets participating printer manufacturers add value and differentiate their models from competitors’ with unparalleled support for print options in SAP business applications.

The SAP Printer Vendor program will also help customers add value to their existing IT investments. Together, SAP and printer vendors will drive innovation aimed at simplifying the user experience and increasing the SAP user community.
