Consumers Can View Streaming Internet Video; Favorite Videos, Movies and Photos on their Big Screen TV as if they were sitting at their PC.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.— D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumer and business, today began shipping a new kind of media player, D-Link® PC-on-TV, which enables users to bring their entire PC experience to their television. PC-on-TV (DPG-1200) is ideally suited for watching popular Web-based content available on their PC from a TV.

D-Link PC-on-TV, to the newest member of the MediaLounge® family of media players, connects directly to the television with VGA, component or included composite cables and then connects via Wi-Fi to a computer on the home network. The user can then control the connected computer using the PC-on-TV remote control. The trackball remote control includes buttons for all common navigation functions.

D-Link PC-on-TV lets users go to the Internet and stream Web-based content, such as YouTube videos, Google Video, Veoh Networks’ content and more, directly from their PCs via the web pages. They can watch virtually any local video content, and use existing media player programs, such as iTunes, Nero, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, etc. directly on their digital television*. This capability eliminates the time and cost to burn DVDs and play the videos from a DVD player.

D-Link PC-on-TV works both with TVs and projectors and supports photo viewing at 1024x768 screen resolution and streaming video at 640x480 resolution at up to 30 frames per second. It allows consumers to easily browse all their PC content with a mouse-like trackball remote control, effectively giving them control over the host PC.

The D-Link DPG-1200 player will also include a portal landing page on the TV with links to VeohTV and active-TV ONLINE applications, each offering a single interface to search, browse and view nearly all video on the Internet. These services allow users quick links to find videos and much more on screens designed to fit their television screen and be viewed from their couch. VeohTV offers programming from media companies, as well as independently produced content available on sites such as YouTube, Google Video, Veoh.com, MySpace and BitTorrent.

“The D-Link PC-on-TV is an elegant solution for extending the PC experience to a television in the other room,” said Chris Wong, director of product management, multimedia for D-Link Systems, Inc. “We’ve developed a simple way for our customers to leverage their big screen television for accessing and enjoying applications traditionally reserved for the computer. Users can now share virtually any movie, song or Internet video with others from the comfort of their family room, with only the click of a few buttons.”

D-Link PC-on-TV also allows users to control their computer remotely from the television, including navigating the Internet via a standard web browser, playing many online games and more.

Other features that make the PC-on-TV device easy to use for the consumer are: 10/100 Ethernet wired and 802.11g wireless network interface, composite, component and VGA video outputs for plugging into the television.
