Sony Achieves Record Sales In Its U.S Stores And Online During Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 2, 2005 - All of the anticipation surrounding Black Friday and Cyber-Monday paid off for Sony Electronics during the Thanksgiving weekend as the company achieved record sales at Sony Style stores across the U.S. and online at SonyStyle.com.

Sales at Sony Style fashion retail stores were up 28 percent versus same store sales last year over the holiday weekend (Nov 25 -27). Consumer electronics fans flocked to Sonystyle.com with equal enthusiasm on Cyber-Monday and rang up purchases totaling an increase of 19 percent versus prior year sales.

The most popular items purchased from Sony Style stores this weekend included the VAIO® FJ series notebooks in green, red, blue and white; the 40-inch and 32-inch BRAVIA™ LCD flat-panel TV; the PlayStation Portable™; and the Cyber-shot® DSC-T7 digital still camera.

On the web, SonyStyle.com top products included the Walkman Bean™ in pink and blue, the VAIO® S Series notebook, the Cyber-shot® DSC-N1 digital still camera and the VAIO® FJ Series notebook in red.

“Clearly our goal of educating consumers about technology as well as the breadth of Sony products at our stores and online is paying off this holiday season,” said Stan Glasgow, president of Consumer Sales for Sony Electronics Inc. “Consumers are more informed and as a result seem to be spending more whether at one of our authorized retailers or directly with us.”

Sony prepped holiday shoppers on their large selection of products for the holiday season by dropping a 36-page glossy catalog in 1.3 million mailboxes across the country as well as placing the catalog in Sony Style stores.

For consumers not sure of what to purchase for loved ones, SonyStyle.com is featuring a comprehensive Gift Center offering consumers gift ideas by price range as well as “ultimate gifts”. It include a 50-inch Grand WEGA™ SXRD™ TV and an AIBO® Entertainment Robot in champagne brown.

And to make life simpler during the harried holiday shopping season, Sony is offering gift cards both online at SonyStyle.com and in Sony Style stores, which can be redeemed at either place. Gift cards range from $25 to $1,000. Cards purchased at Sony Style stores can be coupled with a box of Neuhaus chocolates for an additional $5.95.
