Vought Earns Supplier Award from Gulfstream

STUART, FLA.– Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has awarded one of its top annual supply chain awards to Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. for the company’s excellent performance on the G350/G450 nacelles.

Vought received the award for Gulfstream’s “Initial Phase Procurement” category at the business-jet manufacturer’s recent supplier conference in Savannah, Ga. The company was one of 63 suppliers recognized by Gulfstream out of its supply base of about 1,000 subcontractors. The supplier award is based on achieving excellent performance through four consecutive quarters within the same calendar year in five categories: total value chain cost; quality; reliability; delivery; and product/aftermarket support.

“There are a number of factors contributing to our performance, but in my mind, they boil down to excellent team work and commitment across all disciplines,” said Paul Sandhu, general manager for the Stuart, Fla., site responsible for producing the Gulfstream nacelles. “This is particularly gratifying for our employees, who consistently exceed customer expectations in all aspects of the program requirements. I could not be more proud of them.”

Approximately 25 Vought employees work on the G350/G450 nacelle program here. Nacelles refer to the structure surrounding an aircraft engine. They include the engine inlet, fan cowl, thrust reverser and exhaust nozzle. Vought has produced the Gulfstream nacelles since the original GIV program began in 1985, delivering 664 nacelle shipsets (1,328 units) to date.
