Food Poisoning at Spanish Hotel Complex Club Mac in Puerto Alcudia, Majorca

Travel law solicitor Andrew Morton from Manchester law firm Pannone LLP, says a hotel complex in Majorca, Spain is causing misery for holidaymakers as complaints of food poisoning and poor hygiene are being received from guests staying at the Club Mac in Puerto Alcudia, Majorca.

Three hotels on the complex, the Jupiter, Saturno and Marte, have come in for criticism from tourists returning from holiday there. Andrew Morton reports, “We have had complaints about this hotel complex in previous years and now we’re getting them again. The complaints seem to focus on poor food preparation as a possible cause. There are also reports that the swimming pools were closed to prevent the spread of illness.”

Commenting further he said, “It does seem amazing that the same problems seem to reoccur year after year, with tour operators seemingly disregarding the complaints of their clients. It is important to remember to make your complaints to the local tour rep formal and to keep as much evidence of the problems as possible. Photographs of poor facilities and receipts for medicines are useful, as are the names and addresses of other holidaymakers who were affected.”

Fortunately for British tourists seeking compensation, they have the benefit of powerful consumer legislation in the Package Travel Regulations 1992. These regulations entitle them to bring a claim for compensation against the tour operator in the UK, under UK law.
