Parven Pomper Strategies (PPS), a dynamic Democratic lobbying firm, has announced that Van McMurtry and Alixandria Lapp have joined the firm as senior leaders - and bring decades of combined political, policy, and corporate experience with them.

“We are thrilled that Van and Ali have joined the firm,” Scott Parven - http://www.pps-dc.com/about/parven.aspx - Founder and President of PPS said. “In 2008 and beyond, the need for companies and other organizations to interact in a meaningful way with the Democratic leadership and key moderate members is only going to increase,” Mr. Parven added.

Founded in 2006, PPS has quickly established a strong reputation for
representing Fortune 500 companies (such as Chevron, VISA, Fed Ex, Pfizer, Assurant, and MBIA) leading trade associations (including BIO and PhRMA); and foreign governments (including Panama and Vietnam), across a range of key industries and issues. The firm is especially focused on tax and financial service issues, health care, energy, intellectual property, and global trade matters.

Mr. McMurtry - http://www.pps-dc.com/about/mcmurtry.aspx - who will be a Senior Vice President, recently served as Senior Vice President for federal government relations at Aetna, and specializes in health care, tax, energy, trade, and financial issues for PPS’s clients. He also served as Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance under then-Chairman Lloyd Bentsen (D-TX) from 1989 to 1992, and as Vice President for Government and Community Affairs at Cornell University, and then later at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Lapp - http://www.pps-dc.com/about/lapp.aspx - has worked extensively with Democratic Congressional leadership and influential moderate Democrats in Congress. Prior to her appointment at PPS, Ms. Lapp played a central role in the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives in 2006 and has been a leading strategist for the Democratic Party on message and policy development. For the last year, she was the Executive Director of NDN, formerly known as the New Democrat Network, a progressive think tank and advocacy organization based in Washington. During her tenure there, she worked extensively on the organization’s Globalization Initiative, immigration reform, and next-generation media and technology tools.

While working as the DCCC Campaign Director for Congressman Rahm
Emanuel (D-IL), Ms. Lapp oversaw the Committee’s incumbent protection program, which successfully ensured the re-election of every House Democrat, a feat not achieved since 1922.

In 2004, she ran the winning Washington state caucus campaign for
Senator John Kerry (D-MA), and worked at the past two Democratic National Conventions. Earlier in her career, she served several years on Capitol Hill as Communications Director, Policy Director, and Chief of Staff to Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA).

Mr. McMurtry and Ms. Lapp join PPS following the departure of Beau Schuyler, who left to join the Washington office of UST.

"Brian and I are immensely grateful for the time Beau has spent with
PPS. Our growth and success to date is in large part due to his efforts and contributions, and UST is fortunate to have him. We wish him the best" Mr. Parven said.
