Kathleen Willey: Did Hillary risk her daughter’s life going to Bosnia?

WEBWIRE

Los Angeles, CA (March 31, 2008) -- Smoothing out the wrinkles of her recent Bosnia debacle, Hillary explained that the reason for her misstatement was that she was told to expect sniper fire and, since the President’s safety was at issue, it was decided that Hillary, not Bill, should visit the troops in Bosnia. But, if that is true, why was Chelsea included with the delegation?

As a mother of two, I can state unequivocally that, if I knew it would be dangerous, no child of mine would have been invited on that trip! No questions. End of discussion.

Before she was caught in another lie, Hillary wanted us to think that her Bosnia junket was an important mission, that it was in our country’s interest that she visit our troops, regardless of the danger. It was decided that she would make the trip and that Chelsea, a teenager at the time, would join her mother. By going to Bosnia, Hillary was willing to risk her life—and her daughter’s. What does this say about her?

Either the military and the Secret Service assured her all along that she and her daughter would be completely safe–even from sniper fire—or she was told that the trip would indeed be dangerous. Recent reports affirm that the latter was the case. She expected danger. And she actually jeopardized her daughter’s safety and wellbeing, just to show the world how much she cared for our military, just to show what a compassionate first lady (or co-president) she was. So the question remains: What kind of mother would take her 16-year old daughter to visit soldiers in a dangerous war zone?

Furthermore, visiting our troops in the Bosnia could hardly have been at the top of the Clintons’ “To Do” list. The Clintons had only disdain for the military, and I personally think that Hillary loathed them even more than her husband did. I witnessed this with my own eyes when I worked at the White House.

So the only reason for the Bosnia trip was for Hillary to appear to be supporting our troops. Talk about cynical! Not to mention that Hillary was willing to put her daughter in the line of fire for the sake of a public relations junket. What kind of mother does that?
