Fujitsu 10Gb Ultra-low Latency 20-port Ethernet Switches Power BlueArc Titan Series

Sunnyvale, CA and San Jose, CA, March 2008 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of 10-Gigabit (Gb) Ethernet switches and innovative computer products, and BlueArc® Corporation, a leader in scalable, high-performance network storage, today announced the integration of the Fujitsu XG2000 Ethernet Switches with the SA-48 RAID Array for BlueArc’s family of Titan storage solutions, including the newly announced Titan 3000 series. The alliance between the companies improves archiving capabilities, extending storage capacities and clustering to help reduce storage acquisition costs and extend the data lifecycle.

“Fujitsu has challenged the status quo with its focus on R&D, engineering, and performance by developing a product family that fulfills our highly complex, storage networking requirements,” said Steve Daheb, senior vice president of marketing and business development, BlueArc. “By working together with Fujitsu and other major OEMs, we have the opportunity to expand our reach to major enterprises and horizontal applications by implementing the XG2000 Ethernet switches with our Titan storage solution family. We feel confident that with this winning combination, we’re able to provide our customers with the high-performance solution they’ve been seeking.”

The SA-48 RAID Array for BlueArc’s Titan family is the industry’s highest-density, vertical-drive nearline and archive RAID-array storage solution. It supports larger storage disk drives and RAID 6 capability, for greater fault tolerance and data protection in nearline and dense-archive storage configurations. The Fujitsu XG2000 series provides ultra-low and predictable latency switching, allowing BlueArc to deliver market-leading archiving capabilities for customers to implement cost-effective tiered storage strategies.

“Computing environments are becoming more demanding; success depends on innovative technological advancements to dramatically exceed conventional storage system functions. Fujitsu’s alliance with BlueArc is changing the definition of what’s an efficient, effective and powerful storage solution,” said Vic Herring, senior director, new products group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “The Fujitsu XG2000 is an ideal option for the Titan series, a clustered storage application where switch performance and rack space are critical. We’re thrilled to be working with BlueArc in order to deliver a flexible network prepared to support emerging and evolving applications at a lower total cost of ownership.”
