INRIX traffic available to more than 45 million monthly MapQuest.com users

DENVER, Co. and KIRKLAND, Wash. – MapQuest and INRIX® today announced a collaboration that will allow consumers and businesses to access the full breadth of INRIX traffic information across multiple MapQuest® business units including MapQuest.com, MapQuest Wireless, and MapQuest Platform Services.

MapQuest has integrated INRIX’s real-time traffic speed and incident information on the leading mapping site in the U.S., MapQuest.com. MapQuest.com® users can now select a “Traffic” view which allows them to visualize traffic flow and incidents along major roadways in more than 100 US markets.

“Our extensive customer research shows that traffic is one of the most requested features from our users,” said Christian Dwyer, SVP and GM of MapQuest. “After evaluating alternatives we decided to incorporate INRIX traffic across multiple MapQuest offerings to provide the best coverage and highest accuracy for trip planning and navigation.”

The integration of INRIX traffic allows users to take into account real time traffic information, whether planning personal travel or locating a favorite retail store, restaurant or other location on MapQuest.com, or on their mobile device using MapQuest Navigator.

“The tremendous growth and demand for accurate and reliable traffic information is revolutionizing the way customers get to the important places and events in their lives,” commented Bryan Mistele, president and CEO of INRIX. “We are thrilled to partner with MapQuest, the clear leader in navigation solutions with more than 45 million* monthly MapQuest.com users, to enrich the user experience with traffic-influenced navigation and driving directions.”

INRIX traffic is currently available to mobile consumers via MapQuest Navigator 5.0, the newest version of MapQuest’s voice-guided, GPS-enabled wireless application launched in November 2007. Additional MapQuest implementations are planned throughout 2008.

MapQuest has also made available a toolbar featuring one-click access to real-time traffic information, automatically updated every five minutes. Users who download the new toolbar will have instant access to the features they rely on from MapQuest.com, including finding places, directions and gas prices, no matter what site they’re browsing.
