The “inspired use of world class technology” will help China’s water industry meet the goal of managing and developing the Country’s water resources, according to Dow Water Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company.

Looking ahead to China’s Water Week from March 22 to 28, Niann-Tsyr Yuen, Dow Water Solutions’ Asia Pacific FILMTEC™ membrane product marketing manager, said: “Maintaining and enhancing water resources play a significant role in protecting people’s lives and livelihoods. When you apply human creativity and ingenuity to the inspired use of world class technology, major barriers can be overcome.”

He described how in 2007, FILMTEC™ reverse osmosis (RO) membranes from Dow were installed at three Beijing wastewater reclamation and water reuse facilities, helping treat 45,000 m3 of water per day, the largest volume of municipal waste water in Olympic-related projects in Beijing. “This shows how the people, products and technologies from Dow Water Solutions can contribute significantly to the challenges being addressed by China’s Water Week.” Said Yuen.

Dow Water Solutions has just been rated as one of the best suppliers of water treatment equipment in China, according to the 2007 water industry customer survey by ChinaWater, a leading internet portal dedicated to the Chinese water sector.

The survey, reviewed by an expert professional panel, was conducted between August and December 2007, targeting national-wide water plant, wastewater reuse facilities, industrial water supply and contaminant removal companies, as well as water engineering companies.

The experts responding to the survey ranked Dow as one of the best component suppliers in China for the second time running, with the company continuing to hold the leading position in terms of intended purchases over the next two years, and also for the quality of membrane products for water treatment and purification. In April 2007,Dow Water Solutions was named as “the best membrane supplier” in the same survey.

Yuen said that Dow has made a commitment to help provide cleaner and safer water across the world. “This is one of Dow’s key priorities set out in the Company’s 2015 Sustainability Goals, and is an important reason why we support the goals of China’s Water Week.”

As part of Dow’s commitment to raise global awareness and funds to supply clean water, the Company also sponsored the Blue Planet Run project, a global endurance run around the world that came to Beijing in July 2007.
