TANDBERG to further extend interoperability with Microsoft unified communications platform

NEW YORK AND OSLO, NORWAY, March 2008 - TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA. OL), a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition videoconferencing and mobile video solutions, and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, today announced its license of the Microsoft RT Video codec and Microsoft RT Audio codec. Development based on the license will enable participants to experience optimal video and audio quality when connecting between Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 and TANDBERG video systems.

Under the agreement, Microsoft will license to TANDBERG its proprietary default video codec, RT Video codec, and audio codec, RT Audio codec, used in Microsoft Office communications Server 2007, Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 and Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007.

“Our customers seek high-definition videoconferencing and telepresence solutions offering interoperability with Microsoft’s unified communications platform,” said Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of TANDBERG. “This technology license will drive further enhancements to the customer experience and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Microsoft technologies and unified communications.”

“Customers are looking to industry leaders in videoconferencing and software to deliver interoperability and innovation,” said Eric Swift, senior director, Unified Communications Group, at Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased TANDBERG has licensed our audio and video technology as it is an important building block to providing high-quality interoperability with the broader videoconferencing market.”

TANDBERG currently provides an extensive range of support for quality video and audio codecs. This licensing agreement provides TANDBERG the ability to mix RT Video codec users with other standards-based high-definition over H.264 users. Now, high-quality video and audio can be delivered between the Office Communications Server 2007 environment and other standards-based videoconferencing solutions.

Earlier this year, TANDBERG announced interoperability between its line of standards-based products and Office Communications Server 2007, providing customers with greater enterprise-based unified communications. For more information, please visit http://www.tandberg.com/our_story/microsoft.jsp
