New In-Stat Service Launched
High-tech market research firm In-Stat (http://www.instat.com) has launched a new research service to provide subscribers comprehensive deployment information for Mobile WiMAX, HSPA, EV-DO and future 4G technologies. The 3G/4G Deployment & Subscriber Tracker service provides detailed quarterly deployment information on HSPA, EV-DO and 802.16e WiMAX. Deployment information includes operator, infrastructure vendor, deployment date, as well as quarterly highlights and analysis. In addition, the service includes semi-annual 5-year forecasts of 3G/4G subscribers by wireless broadband technology and geographic region.
According to Daryl Schoolar, a Senior Analyst with In-Stat, “Access to this type of comprehensive data will allow marketing and sales management to track their growth and performance relative to their competitors. Product marketing and corporate strategy will be able to quantify business opportunities by regions and technology. This is especially important when a business looks to where it should invest its resources regarding wireless broadband.” The new service is backed by a team of analysts who have extensive expertise in the cellular and WiMAX space, at the device, carrier, and infrastructure levels.
The first published report from the service found that 2007 was another strong year for HSPA wireless deployments, especially for HSUPA which had 28 deployments. The third- and fourth-generation wireless subscriber base also made impressive gains last year. Subscribers to mobile broadband services grew by 91% in 2007. Despite these gains, 2G technologies are still expected to dominate the total cellular subscriber base through 2012. CDMA2000/CDMAOne and GSM/GPRS/EDGE accounted for over 90% of total cellular subscribers in 2007. By the end of 2012, In-Stat expects that 2G technologies will still account for over 70% of the worldwide cellular subscriber base.
Additional highlights from the report include:
* In-Stat expects a 63% growth rate in mobile broadband subscribers in 2008, with total subscribers rising from 230 million in 2007 to 375 million in 2008.
* By the end of 2012, In-Stat forecasts approximately 970 million mobile broadband subscribers worldwide.
* 4Q07 was another strong quarter for HSDPA and HSUPA deployments. There were 8 HSDPA and 9 HSUPA deployments scattered globally.
Recent In-Stat research, 4Q07 Global 3G/4G Deployments & Subscribers Tracker (#IN0804095GDS), covers the worldwide market for 3G/4G wireless deployments and subscribers. It provides five-year subscriber forecasts for cellular and Mobile WiMAX. It also includes a summary and roundup of 2007 3G/4G deployments by technology.
