Training Magazine Highlights EMC’s State-Of-The-Art Technical and Sales Training and Leadership Development Program

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced it has been honored as one of the world’s premier companies in Training magazine’s Top 125 list of companies with employer-sponsored workforce training and development.

This is the fifth consecutive year EMC has appeared on Training magazine’s Top 125 List. EMC advanced one position from last year to number two and remains the highest-ranked information technology company on the list. Other companies on this year’s top 10 include: PricewaterhouseCoopers, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Verizon Wireless, KPMG, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, General Mills, SCC Soft Computer, Microsoft and TAP Pharmaceutical Products.

For the seventh year in a row, an outside research and statistical data company, under the guidance of Training magazine, developed the Top 125 list by scoring companies based on quantitative and qualitative data supplied by applicants, including best training practices, evaluation methods, and outstanding training initiatives. Editors at Training subjectively reviewed each application.

Tom Clancy, Vice President, EMC Education Services said, “By investing in a broad and balanced portfolio of technology learning and professional development offerings, we can provide the leading-edge technology training we need to compete, while also creating the leaders we need to achieve our aggressive plans for growth.”

This prestigious ranking highlights EMC’s investment in its employees, partners and customers, which spans an array of innovative offerings ranging from New Hire, FastStart and Inside Sales Development for newer employees, to industry recognized programs such as EMC Proven™ Professional Certification and Sales/Partner Accreditation.

The magazine also emphasized EMC’s internal training initiatives, such as the leadership development process, EMC University and EMC’s focus on diversity inclusion. The magazine underscored EMC University’s integrated processes and programs to develop talent to meet the demand for the next generation of leaders required to manage a global workforce.

Brian Powers, Senior Director, EMC University said, “Education has become part of the fabric of EMC and is a critical tool to advance the company’s business objectives while also meeting the career aspirations of employees.”

The award also noted EMC’s support for math and science education in local middle and high schools. EMC sponsors regional and national math, science and engineering competitions, including FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics. EMC’s global Academic Alliance Program offers more than 170 universities an information storage curriculum titled, “Storage Technology Foundations.”

Clancy said, “We believe building technical expertise through schools eventually creates a more qualified pool of technical talent that benefits EMC, our customers and the community alike.”
