Gramicci Wins Top Prize for Ecologically- Friendly Trade Show Booth

Gramicci’s eye-catching exhibit built entirely from recycled materials won the Best of Booth award in the new ‘Eco’ category at the recent Outdoor Retailer Market show in Salt Lake City. The California-based outdoor apparel manufacturer was honored in the annual competition sponsored by SNEWS

Created by California artist Mike Russek, who specializes in sustainable and recycled materials, the entire exhibit was composed of trash combed from the dumpsters of Los Angeles’ garment district. The booth’s traffic-stopping acrylic entry walls were adorned with plastic, fabric scraps and cardboard layered to resemble the sedimentary layers of the earth.

Inside, meeting tables were constructed of recycled agricultural products such as sorghum, set on wooden sawhorses, and recycled flooring of reclaimed particleboard. To show the lifecycle of materials in art and form, concepts from Gramicci’s workbook were set into the overall image to illustrate the company’s commitment to sustainable practices.

The design dovetails nicely with Gramicci’s various initiatives to preserve the environment, including its extensive Greenicci collection of apparel made of 100% organic or recycled materials.
