Hoodia Gordonii Side Effects And Hoodia Safety
Hoodia Gordonii has been independently tested, tested by Phytopharm and also reviewed by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Phytopharm is a British pharmaceutical company which has been licensed to develop the active ingredients found in Hoodia Gordonii. However, even though none have been reported, it is not yet known if there are any Hoodia Gordonii side effects, as very few studies have been taken.
Hoodia is a succulent cactus-like plant found in the dry desert areas in South-Africa and is well known for the active ingredient P57 which is a natural appetite suppressant. Hoodia Gordonii is the only Hoodia species that contains P57, the local tribes of South Africa known as San Bushmen have used the Hoodia plant for centuries as an appetite suppressant, for pain relief, as a thirst repellant and for various other medical benefits.
Whilst no Hoodia Gordonii side effects or ill effects have been reported or released to the public, there are several factors to consider when consuming Hoodia.
The active thirst suppressant can be potentially a mild risk if the subject continues the intake of Hoodia for prolonged periods of time without drinking water or required fluid. It is recommended to maintain regular fluid intake and that is the recommended 8 glasses of water per day.
Food intake can also be an issue, and even when dieting it is still essential to eat healthily and at regular intervals. Throughout any diet or weight loss regime it is important to maintain a healthy eating pattern and to seek professional advice from a doctor or weight loss professional before beginning any associated program.
It is also interesting to note that Hoodia has been tested by CSIR on animals in South Africa and the animals did not suffer any physical effects such as increased heart rate or higher blood pressure. The only effect during the period was actually a loss of weight throughout the testing period.
Whilst there are no reported Hoodia side effects as a weight loss and diet supplement, it is essential to practice healthy eating (and drinking), follow a fitness plan which involves healthy exercise, seek medical advice and it is also recommended to seek professional advice to maintain a healthy diet with all of the above - which is the case with any weight loss program.
