Wholesale Seafood and Fish Distribution Vendors Are Global Target of New Foreign Exchange Accounting Software Module

WEBWIRE

HOUSTON, TX – February 19, 2008 –Wholesale seafood and fish distribution vendors are the target for a new foreign exchange accounting module to be introduced next week at the International Seafood Show Feb. 24-26 in Boston.

The new accounting tool was designed by Edible Software, a wholesale food distribution inventory control software company in Houston. The software, designed specifically for the wholesale seafood and fresh fish industry, gives users the ability to purchase product from - or sell product to – foreign countries, and track the resulting profit or loss on the exchange rates.

“Global trade in the seafood and freshwater fish industry is on the rise as distributors here in the United States rely on foreign suppliers from countries like Canada, Mexico and China,” said Henri Morris, president and CEO of Edible Software, a division of Solid Software Solutions, LLC.

“However, while globalization provides end-consumers with more variety in seafood and fish offerings, it also creates complex foreign exchange accounting issues, and these can have a powerful impact on profit.”

Morris said Edible Software engineers spent more than 24-man months developing and coding the accounting and inventory control module “to ensure accuracy and ease-of-use by the wholesale seafood and freshwater fish industry. Our goal was to exceed distributors’ needs – and we accomplished that goal.”

Morris said the wholesale seafood and freshwater fish distribution industry is complex enough even when business is conducted on a domestic level, “but when you add in two, three or more currencies, the probability of miscalculating the buy or sale side of the deal gets higher and higher,” he said. “Loss of profits is often the result.”

In order for a wholesale seafood or fish distribution company to ascertain their true trading profit, said Morris, the company (www.ediblesoftware) must be able to record profits or losses on foreign exchange transactions separately from profit or losses made on the sale, itself. This task gets even more daunting as both the sale and buy side parties deal with constantly fluctuating exchange rates.”

Morris said research conducted by his company shows Edible Software to be the only wholesale seafood and freshwater fish accounting software that:
• Has passed Microsoft’s tough Vista-compatible third-party testing
• Is compliant with the FDA’s Bio-Terrorism Act
• Incorporates a PDA hand-held solution for the needs of warehouse and delivery personnel

“All versions of Edible Software comply with the FDA’s Bio-Terrorism Act because they track seafood and fresh water fish from the vendor of origin, right down to the final destination - and back again,” said Morris.

“And this includes any manufacturing process.”
