North Yorkshire Police chooses Atos Origin and SAS to Deliver Performance and Information Management Solution

Atos Origin, an international IT services company, today announced that it has won a contract to deliver a Performance and Information Management Solution to North Yorkshire Police (NYP). The new solution improves the quality, timeliness and accuracy of the information stored, to provide decision makers with fast and secure access to the information they need, when they need it.

Under the contract, Atos Origin will lead the implementation of the new solution with software from SAS, the leader in Business Intelligence software, being used to solve the data integration and data quality issues. North Yorkshire Police expects eventually to increase crime detections and officer efficiency, using improved predictive analysis of crimes and more effective officer deployment. It also predicts a saving of £9.7m over five years through additional efficiency and productivity gains.

We were able to re-use routines and mappings they had developed for South Wales Police as well, which provided cost and timescale advantages.”

Atos Origin will manage the data cleansing and transformation of accurate and non-duplicated information from a number of existing operational systems to a new Corporate Data Warehouse. During the transition of the data, it will ensure that all information held on the existing systems remains available for operational and business intelligence purposes. Atos Origin will also implement a new business intelligence reporting model from SAS to meet both the current and future needs of North Yorkshire Police.
