Paris, November 21, 2005 - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA AND NYSE: ALA) today announced that the Orlando International Airport, the fourth largest origin and destination airport in the U.S. - the 14th largest airport in the U.S. - has deployed a range of Alcatel’s wireless and wired networking products, creating a reliable and secure carrier-class network for employees and airlines, while enabling wireless Internet access for travelers.

“The airport needed a system that could provide carrier class networking capabilities and functionality,” said John Newsome, director of Information Technology for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) which manages the Orlando International Airport. “These products have provided the performance needed and have enhanced security for our mission-critical network.”

The airport is deploying Alcatel OmniSwitch networking products to support their backbone and edge, Alcatel OmniAccess wireless local area network (WLAN) switches and access points, and the Alcatel OmniVista network management solution, including the Alcatel OmniVista Quarantine Manager with OneTouch security.

Additionally, the Alcatel Quarantine Manager automates attack and intrusion containment. GOAA’s network managers can now monitor network activity from a single platform, while a diverse group of users, including airport staff from 60-plus airlines and over 32 million travelers each year, can have secure connections.

“Alcatel is excited to help Orlando International Airport realize the benefits of a value-priced, secure and reliable communications network that today’s airport staff requires, while providing the convenience of a wireless network to travelers without compromising best-in-class security that employees depend on,” said Tom Burns, Senior VP and GM of Alcatel’s network infrastructure activities. “The network has increased performance capabilities along with the latest conveniences of a wireless network for users.”
