Comic Strip Live to Set Guinness World Record for the Longest Stand Up Comedy Show

New York, NY – February 13, 2008 – Starting Tuesday June 3rd at 8:30 pm and ending at Thursday, June 5th at 10:30 pm, the World Famous Comic Strip Live (www.comicstriplive.com) will set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Stand Up Comedy Show in history. For 50 continuous hours, there will be laughter without end.

“Nothing like this has ever been attempted in modern history,” Said Club Manager and Booker Josh Ravitz. “For over 30 years, we’ve set the bar for the industry and have been the launching pad for the biggest stars in comedy. This is a one in a lifetime event that will test and push the limit of the spirit of laughter.”

Audiences can expect over 200 professional comedians to grace the stage (many of whom have appeared on CBS’s “Late Show with Letterman”, NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, Comedy Central, and HBO) in the house where Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Lisa Lampanelli, Eddie Murphy and many other great stars earned their wings. In addition, the Comic Strip Live has offered an open invitation to Dave Chappelle & Dane Cook to finally settle their “longest stage time” competition during the world record attempt. In 2007, both comedians each performed over six and a half hour sets.

For the entire duration of the world record attempt, there will be a wait staff present, photographers on hand to capture every moment, and non-stop laughs. During off peak show hours on both nights, audience members will be treated to a bevy of free bagels, donuts, coffee and Redbull energy drinks.

For those who wish to attend the entire 50-hour marathon, the Comic Strip Live will be awarding audience members gold medal replicas, a certificate of accomplishment (bragging rights to grandkids), and a year of free admission to the club.

“Like a walk-a-thon or dance-a-thon, our world record attempt will be a super “laugh-a-thon” raising money for one worthy charity to be selected by the Comic Strip Live,” Said Ravitz. “Our goal is to raise $25,000 – $50,000 for them with the donations coming from the audience, staff, comedians, and our sponsors who’ve already pledged to support our cause. This is actually just one of hundreds of philanthropic fundraisers the club has done since 1976.”
