Tektronix Extends 3G Network Optimization Portfolio to Provide Drive Test Data Correlation for Improved Time-to-Resolution

DT-Synergy Complements Comprehensive Network Optimization Capabilities, Reduces Costs of Network Optimization Campaigns

RICHARDSON, Texas, February, 2008 – Tektronix Communications, a leading worldwide provider of communications network management and diagnostics solutions, announced the expansion of its 3G network optimization portfolio with the introduction of DT-Synergy, a new advanced software application that enables enhanced productivity through improved time-to-resolution during optimization campaigns. For network optimization engineers, DT-Synergy combines the benefits of drive test with the network intelligence delivered by Tektronix’ advanced protocol analysis solutions.

The new application, which complements Tektronix’ first-to-market suite of network optimization products, will allow increased network optimization efficiency by overcoming some of the typical shortcomings of a network optimization strategy based purely on drive test campaigns. These include lack of visibility on uplink activity, poor statistical relevance of data gathered and the high operating costs associated for each campaign. Tektronix’ solution has the ability to allow savings of up to 60 percent on OPEX relevant to traditional network optimization techniques, enabling successful roll out of new services without quality degradation.

DT-Synergy: Increasing Network Optimization Productivity
DT-Synergy enables optimization and troubleshooting engineers to increase their intelligence of potential network problems while removing the burden of unnecessary time and resource consuming tasks. Full visibility of Uu, Iub, Iur and Iu interfaces is achieved through c orrelation of Tektronix Network & Service Analyzer (NSA) sessions with drive test log files and network planning data. The call data is plotted on geographical maps while radio measurement parameters are graphically displayed. This allows for concurrent analysis and comparison of uplink and downlink events and measurements.

Tektronix’ network optimization portfolio features a variety of applications specifically designed to help radio optimization engineers perform their tasks more efficiently without relying solely on drive test as in the past. Portfolio solutions include the NSA and the RF Scout® for RF interference hunting and coverage check.
