KOOSHAREM, UT -- Sorenson’s Ranch School, a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens, is pleased to announce the addition of a new certified special education teacher to its staff. Tina Somers, an early childhood education specialist and adolescent expert, is a welcome addition to an already talented and experienced staff, which includes mental health therapists and specially trained substance abuse counselors.

The addition of Somers provides a broader range of services for students at Sorenson’s. Her expertise will help address conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome and reactive attachment disorder (RAD).

“We’re pleased to have Ms. Somers on our team,” said Shane Sorenson, co-owner and director of Sorenson’s Ranch School.

“Her experience and credentials are an excellent fit and will allow us to implement a broader range of services for our students,” he added.

Established in 1959, Sorenson’s Ranch School is located in central Utah and offers programs for students with a history of problems with substance abuse, low self-esteem, running away, reactive attachment disorder and other behavioral issues. Best known for its horse ranch and equine training program, Sorenson’s attracts students from around the country and implements a mastery-based learning program, requiring students to master fundamental curriculum before proceeding to new material.

Sorenson’s is licensed by the State of Utah as a residential treatment and substance abuse center and accredited by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Operating for the past 30 years, the school is regarded as one of the nation’s premier programs for troubled teens.

Somers has joined Sorenson’s Ranch School on a full-time basis and comes highly recommended. She taught 13 years in Nevada, helping to establish the Early Intervention Program and was also named Teacher of the Year for the Head Start program in Utah.
