Lucent’s Exhibit (Booth 1401) Features Live Demonstrations of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A and HSDPA Technology; Other Demos Include Various IMS Applications

NOVEMBER 16, 2005, HONG KONG – At the 3G World Congress 2005 trade show this week at the Hong Kong Convention and Exposition Center, Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) will showcase how to deliver Value over IP™ through its broad portfolio of end-to-end solutions and applications designed to help service providers introduce “blended lifestyle” services that combine voice, data and video capabilities. At the show, Lucent will demonstrate its industry-leading, Bell Labs-developed third-generation (3G) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solutions for service providers.

“This is an exciting show for those of us committed to bringing to service providers in Asia some of the newest, most advanced communications technologies available,” said Bart Vogel, president, Lucent Technologies Asia Pacific. “Lucent is leading the industry in helping service providers deliver IMS-enabled services that make communications simple, seamless, secure, personal, portable, and reliable for consumers and business users.”

Lucent’s exhibit (booth 1401) features several engaging demos including live, over-the-air demonstrations of CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO Revision A and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) technology. Lucent’s Bell Labs-developed IMS applications such as Active Phone Book are also being showcased. Active PhoneBook is an advanced personal directory service that goes beyond the standard “buddy list” by providing a common, unified phonebook supporting an array of applications and devices that tracks and centralizes contact data including phone numbers and e-mail addresses and incorporates presence and location data for subscribers’ buddies.

“The enhanced data transmission capabilities of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A and HSDPA combined with an IMS-enabled core network will provide the ability for service providers to deliver ‘blended lifestyle’ services that can increase revenue and customer satisfaction and attract new subscribers,” Vogel said.

CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A is an enhanced version of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO that increases the efficiency, data speeds and capacity of existing EV-DO networks. CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A enables users to receive and send data with improved performance and speed over currently deployed 1xEV-DO networks. These enhancements also reduce data latency and will enable operators to deliver voice over IP (VoIP) and other multimedia services such video telephony on CDMA2000 networks in the future.

HSDPA technology enables W-CDMA/UMTS operators to introduce new, mobile high-speed data services such as DVD-quality streaming video, fast downloads of very large files including music, as well as Virtual Private Network (VPN) access to corporate networks. Last month, Lucent announced it deployed the world’s first two commercial HSDPA networks.

Several Lucent executives will participate in various speaking engagements at the show. Some of these include:

* Dr. Jeong Kim, president, Lucent’s Bell Labs: plenary address entitled “The Future of Broadband Mobility – Architectures and Services” (Thursday, Nov. 17 at 9:55 – 11:30 a.m.);
* Dr. Sandip Mukerjee, vice president for marketing and business development with Lucent’s Applications Solutions business: standalone presentation session entitled “Delivering Applications for High Human Value Services” (Friday, Nov. 18 at 2:30 – 4:45 p.m.).
