Boeing Prepares Chinook Maintenance Crews for Service

WEBWIRE

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], through its Wilmington (Del.) Training Center, trained more than 425 U.S. and foreign military and company personnel in 2007, providing hands-on training opportunities for CH-47 Chinook helicopter maintainers.

The training center uses realistic tools such as the Chinook Composite Maintenance Trainer (CMT) shown here to train airframe mechanics and electrical, avionics and automated flight control system (AFCS) technicians. The CMT features fully functional helicopter operating systems and a real-time fault insertion capability that provides positive enforcement for all line-level aircraft maintenance activities.

The center, which serves as the sole Chinook maintenance schoolhouse for the Royal Australian Air Force and the Royal Netherlands Air Force, also supports shop-level maintenance courses in composite rotor blade repair, helicopter drive system component repair and the repair of AFCS, hydraulic and electrical system components.
