Panasonic Showcases Ideas for "Living in High Definition: Whole Life Connectivity" at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show

Panasonic today announced the latest products and technologies being showcased by the company at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which will be held from January 7-10, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.. Panasonic’s lineup of featured products will be on display at the 2008 CES Panasonic booth #9405.

The expansion of High Definition technology, with growing diverse networking capabilities, is offering more ways than ever before to experience beautiful picture clarity from the comfort of home. Thanks to the rapid advancement of digital technologies, connectivity between televisions and various audio visual products is further enhanced, setting the stage for a host of new and innovative features and conveniences to change the television experience from “one of watching” to “one of using”.

Under the theme “Living in High Definition,” Panasonic unveiled its latest cutting-edge products equipped with the newest High Definition technologies. Panasonic’s corporate theater and exhibition zones will display products and solutions that provide a richer lifestyle through product connectivity and the effort to “Bring Back Family Time.”

Corporate Theater:
At the corporate theater, Panasonic will showcase “Living in High Definition: Whole Life Connectivity” in a dynamic theatrical performance which will introduce its latest cutting-edge Plasma display technologies, including recent advancements in brightness, thinness and size. Panasonic will also present its outlook on enhanced networking capabilities that link a range of equipment and applications to VIERA HDTV’s. Visitors can see Panasonic’s vision for the future of television, which includes an entire wall of TV called the “Life Wall,” based on the belief that Panasonic’s HDTV will be the center of everything inside and outside the home by connecting various applications including safety, security and communication -- a place where family members and friends gather together, a modern “Digital Hearth” that connects people once again.

Exhibition Zone: Entertain
Panasonic will reveal for the first time at the 2008 CES several new Plasma innovations, including the new world’s largest 150-inch Plasma HDTV, new super-thin Plasma displays measuring only 24.7mm*, less than one inch, at the thickest point and a Plasma panel with twice the brightness of previous panels. Also on exhibit will be VIERA IPTV’s enabling easy access to YouTubeTM and Picasa Web AlbumsTM from Google without the use of a traditional computer; tru2wayTM-ready TVs in collaboration with Comcast Corporation, America’s largest cable company. The full line-up of VIERA flat panel televisions, from 26-inch screen size to the 103-inch model will be available to view, along with Blu-ray Disc players with playback capability of AVCHD video recorded onto SDHC Memory Card and Blu-ray-compatible home theater systems.

Exhibition Zone: Living in High Definition
VIERA forms the core of Panasonic’s audio-visual products. “VIERA Link” is an entire audio-visual operation system centered on VIERA and controlled by one single remote control. This zone shows the networking applications with VIERA Link technology incorporated, seamlessly connecting various audio visual products together. Also, future safety and security home networking and management technologies will also be demonstrated. It includes IP camera monitoring, remote record programming and room lighting controls, all of which are operable inside home through VIERA by a single remote control, and also remotely from car through the navigation system.

Exhibition Zone: Create
Various products that enable users to create their own memories in high definition quality images and video are on display. Exhibited are LUMIX digital still cameras, including a prototype of a wireless LAN-compatible LUMIX camera that can upload photo data directly onto Picasa Web Albums without the need of a computer, as well as a new 1080p full HD digital camcorder line-up that uses SD Memory Cards.

Products and solutions such as the 32GB SDHC Memory Card and the four-layered Blu-ray Disc player prototype, which allows users to archive and share long-hour high-quality visual content and music, are on display.

Exhibition Zone: Connect
Other cutting-edge networking products on display include the Link-to-Cell mobile phone accessory, which allows Bluetooth-enabled cell phones to connect seamlessly with a user’s home phone. Also on display are Panasonic’s PetCam line of network cameras. These network cameras provide remote monitoring of a user’s pet’s activities via web access. GLOBARANGE, Panasonic’s IP phone service that offers VoIP calling can be seen in this exhibit area.

Exhibition Zone: Mobile
STRADA car navigation system line-up including Panasonic’s newest portable navigation device, iPOD-compatible models and satellite radio receivers will be on display.
