Agilent Technologies, ETS-Lindgren Test Equipment Selected by AT4 wireless for use in First Test Facility for WiMAX(tm) Radiated Performance Test

WEBWIRE

Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) and ETS-Lindgren today announced that they were selected by AT4 wireless labs to provide WiMAX test equipment for use in radiated performance test (RPT). AT4 wireless is one of the first test labs to provide radiated performance testing for WiMAX.

As the WiMAX Forum(r) Lead Lab and first worldwide WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory, AT4 wireless is developing RPT capability in its U.S.-based branch by adding the ETS-Lindgren RPT system. This test system includes the ETS AMS-8500 antenna measurement system, the Agilent EXA Signal Analyzer and Agilent’s E6651A Mobile WiMAX(tm) test set. This RPT solution will augment AT4’s other test systems, which include its own wireless Mobile WiMAX test set.

“Given that RPT will be introduced as part of certification testing for Mobile WiMAX in 2008, AT4 wireless has been working hard with our partners to provide the WiMAX industry with the test facilities and test sets they need,” said Fernando E. Hardasmal, CEO of AT4 wireless Inc. in Herndon, Va. “We are thrilled to be creating the first WiMAX RPT facility in the world.”

The RPT testing solution, hosted at AT4 wireless laboratories in Spain and the U.S., can perform both 2-D (polar) and 3-D (spherical) antenna pattern measurement on transmit power and receiver sensitivity for notebooks, PCMCIA cards and other terminals employing WiMAX technology.

“Being chosen by AT4 wireless to provide the antenna measurement system for the first WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory in the U.S. is a significant endorsement of our RPT solution,” said Bryan Sayler, ETS-Lindgren’s senior vice president.

This RPT solution addresses the needs of WiMAX equipment manufacturers who must pass RPT requirements to attain WiMAX Forum certification. The certification process is designed to assure that products using WiMAX specifications perform as expected and provide the end user with a reliable communication experience.

“We are delighted that AT4 wireless has selected the Agilent E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set for this landmark WiMAX RPT installation,” said Niels Faché, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Mobile Broadband Division. “RPT testing is another excellent example of how the E6651A’s combined RF, protocol and functional test capabilities make it an indispensible tool which can be used across the entire R&D lifecycle.”
