CA Xosoft Wins Windows It Pro Magazine Editor’s Choice In Comparative CDP Review

WEBWIRE

CA (NYSE: CA) today announced that Windows IT Pro has selected CA XOsoft WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery as “Editor’s Choice” in a comparative review of four leading Continuous Data Protection (CDP) products for Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange.

Calling CA XOsoft WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery “an easy to implement high availability product, with a fast, effective data rewind feature,” Windows IT Pro selected it over products from Microsoft, SonicWall and TimeSpring for its “ease of use, its effective failover and failback feature set, and for the balance it strikes between effective data protection and system resource requirements.”

Products were evaluated in a lab-based test environment for overall value, functionality and performance.

“CA XOsoft WANSyncHA combines data rewind with application failover to a remote server for both offsite data protection and rapid application recovery,” said Windows IT Pro reviewer John Green. “When you need true CDP with rapid remote application recovery, look at WANSyncHA first.”

“True” CDP capabilities track changes to application data to enable storage administrators to quickly recover to the point in time immediately before the application was compromised, which is functionality that organizations require to minimize data loss and meet aggressive recovery objectives.

Windows IT Pro also cited the disaster recovery capabilities of CA XOsoft WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery, particularly the ability to simplify automatic testing of the failover process to validate disaster recovery plans, including a rollback of test transactions applied to the replica.

Ruden McClosky, a Florida-based law firm with 10 offices throughout the state, is using CA XOsoft WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery to perform real-time replication to a hot data center in Chicago.

“CA XOsoft gives us the ability to provide both remote-data protection and to recover files to any point in time on any of our geographically dispersed Windows servers.” said Ben Weinberger, director of IT for Ruden McClosky. “It provides a very cost effective way for us to make sure we don’t lose any of our mission critical application data if any server in any office is compromised.”

A core component of CA’s Recovery Management solution, CA XOsoft WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery provides cost-effective business continuity for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft IIS web servers, file servers, and other applications on both 32- and 64- bit Windows servers. It offers real-time replication, push-button or fully automatic failover of mission-critical application servers over a LAN or WAN, application-aware status monitoring, integrated CDP as a guard against data corruption, and completely non-disruptive automated disaster recovery testing.

“IT organizations are under increasing pressure to protect critical business applications, keep them continuously available and implement verifiable disaster recovery procedures-all within fairly tight resource constraints,” said Mat Dickson, vice president, development for CA’s Mid-Market and Storage Business Unit. “Windows IT Pro’s selection of CA WANSyncHA with Assured Recovery as its Editor’s Choice demonstrates once again that CA is uniquely meeting this critical market need.”
