Line-up includes one with built-in ATSC tuner and one tuner-less model.

LAS VEGAS .– JVC today announced two new DVD/VCR recorders, one with a built-in ATSC tuner for convenient recording of high definition TV programming, and a tuner-less model.

Both the DR-MV100B and DR-MV79B offer 1080p up-conversion via an HDMI output for the best quality video and audio and the convenience of both delivered through a single cable. Both also offer DivX playback, so video files downloaded from the internet can be conveniently archived to a DVD and played back from a disc. A front panel DV input makes it easy to connect a camcorder and transfer footage to a DVD disc or VHS videocassette. And both are compatible with –R/RW, +R/RW and DVD-RAM discs for recording and playback.

The DR-MV100B is JVC’s new ATSC tuner-equipped recorder. The DR-MV79B is tuner-free, but includes JVC’s Timer Link, a quick and easy solution for recording TV programs by connecting to a cable or satellite set-top box using an AV cable. The user selects the desired program using the set-top box electronic program guide and timer function. JVC’s new Timer Link feature senses the signal, automatically powers up the recorder and begins recording. Recording automatically stops and the recorder shuts off when the program ends. JVC research shows that the vast majority of set-top boxes come equipped with a timer.

Both recorders include component and S-Video outputs, one composite output, two composite inputs (one rear, one front), and coaxial and optical audio outputs, as an additive to the HDMI interface. Additionally, both models feature VHS–to–DVD dubbing, and come in black.

Availability and approximate retail pricing:
Model Available National Ad Value
DR-MV79B March 2008 $199.95
DR-MV100B March 2008 $249.95
