The New High-Capacity ReadyNAS 1.5TB, 2TB, 3TB and 4TB Desktop and 4TB Rackmount Versions Feature a Five-Year Warranty and Enhanced Manageability, Usability, Performance, and Peripheral Support

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - NETGEAR, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, announced the launch of the newest members of its award-winning ReadyNAS™ family of network-attached storage solutions: ReadyNAS NV+ 1.5TB Gigabit Desktop Storage (RND4275), ReadyNAS NV+ 2TB Gigabit Desktop Storage (RND4210), ReadyNAS NV+ 3TB Gigabit Desktop Storage (RND4475), ReadyNAS NV+ 4TB Gigabit Desktop Storage (RND4410) and ReadyNAS 1100 4TB Dual Gigabit Rackmount Network Storage (RNR4410). The high-capacity ReadyNAS products, which are covered by an industry-leading five-year hardware warranty, have improved manageability, usability, performance and peripheral support.

The award-winning ReadyNAS products are high-performance network-attached storage solutions that deliver best-in-class performance, scalability, versatility, and data redundancy for “prosumers” and small and medium businesses. Featuring Gigabit Ethernet interfaces with Jumbo Frames support to provide maximum data throughput speeds to and from the network backbone, the ReadyNAS supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and NETGEAR’s proprietary X-RAID™ technology which provides automated RAID expansion that enables users to scale from one to four disks and beyond. While hot-swappable hard drives enable users to swap out drives on-the-fly to minimize system downtime, ReadyNAS further improves end-user productivity through support of Windows, Macintosh and Linux clients.

In addition to a five-year hardware warranty, which covers all ReadyNAS devices sold by NETGEAR after June 1, 2007, ReadyNAS devices now showcase a new NETGEAR branded user interface designed to conform to the familiar, easy-to-use GUI incorporated into the company’s ProSafe™ line of switches, routers and VPN firewall products. For sophisticated VARs and end-users, the ReadyNAS products now provide Secure Shell (SSH) access to enable further system customization.

To enhance ease-of-management, ReadyNAS supports volume sizes larger than 2TB, provides online X-RAID volume expansion, provides the option to save and restore system configurations to simplify multiple unit deployments, and enables ReadyNAS to work more efficiently in larger office environment by limiting it to a single organizational unit in an ADS environment. In addition, ReadyNAS provides support for VMware® via NFS over TCP.

Peripheral support has been enhanced by enabling users to share Windows NTFS formatted USB disks by plugging into the ReadyNAS, and providing the ability for ReadyNAS to be specified as a network UPS server for other ReadyNAS systems so that battery-low graceful shutdown can occur when sharing the same UPS.

“The addition of our new higher-capacity ReadyNAS products with their enhanced functionality is very exciting to our end users and solution providers as it further extends the versatility, scalability and functionality delivered by NETGEAR’s industry-leading family of networking solutions for the consumer and SMB sectors,” explained Sam Feng, NETGEAR Director of Product Marketing, Storage Solutions. “By adding higher-capacity options, making the product easier to use and manage, improving the performance, expanding peripheral support, enabling third party development, and providing the industry’s best hardware warranty, we have been able to bring to market a product family that delivers the critical combination of value, ease-of-use, scalability, and reliability that will make ReadyNAS the defacto standard for NAS storage in the SMB and ‘prosumer’ markets.”
